Successful Adventure

We don't get out much. It's quite a production to coordinate naps, feedings and diaper changes, pack the bags and load all the kids in the mini-van, chase after them in a non-baby proof environment and then pack them up again. We usually have our fun at home. One fine day Derek and I decided we were going to be adventurous and take a trip to the zoo with the kiddos. We were planning for the worst, but were amazed after 2 full hours at the zoo with no major meltdowns.
We may as well have been part of a zoo exhibit with all the gawking our stroller caused. My favorite was an old lady who came waddling over to me while I was waiting for Derek and Miri who had gone through the Madagascar Exhibit (no monster truck-sized strollers allowed.)
"Oh my! triplet boys!"
"Oh, they are girls" I responded with a friendly smile.
And then came the question that almost made me laugh out loud.
"Are they artificial?"
I get asked all the time if they are "natural" but this is the first time I've been asked if they are "artificial." I wanted to tell her that they are actually plastic, but she probably would have believed me.
She then went on to tell me about some relation of hers who had triplets and "nursed those kids until they were three years old." Wow. All I could think about was how many teeth a 3 year old has.
Here's some more fun stuff we've been doing this summer.

Pool parties with friends and cousins.
Play date with the Kirby triplets.

Good job on getting out! I am just amazed that with how busy you are that Miri's hair looks so cute and perfectly done! You have to teach me that trick sometime!

this made me laugh. i get asked the "natural" question all the time, but have never heard "artificial." i've learned that the more pc way of asking is "are they spontaneous?" (not that it matters, they're all sweet little babies.)

i also get asked if it's a boy and a girl, or two boys even though they're identical, and even when they're wearing all pink. i think a lot of people say stuff without thinking just to have a chance to come over and see the babies. i really need to write down all the stupid/funny comments and questions we get from people. you guys are champs for taking them all to the zoo.

Oh my heck woman, you are MUCH braver than I am! I only have two kids (a three year old and a 13 month old) and I feel like it's an act of congress to get everyone out of the house when you coordinate nap and eating schedules!

Pretty much, I'm home body. :)

Well, you should have told her that they are obviously artificial, made from Chinese plastic with led paint.

They were cheaper to make that way.

:)

People are so dumb sometimes! Whit threw the biggest fit in the store the other day and I had a lady say "let me guess, she's TWO" I was soooo annoyed. Like that comment is going to help my situation out. ahhhh. Oh ya, we changed our blog address to ilovemps.blogspot.com in case you wanted to change that.

It is so funny to read other triplet moms' experiences because they are always so SIMILAR!!!! My girls can wear hot pink and bows and someone will still ask if they are boys or girls! And I feel the same about getting out of the house. It's like psyching up for a marathon. Keep up the good work, mama!!
